Maria Marini

January 7, 1932 — July 11, 2016

Maria Marini (nee Patrizio), 84, of Vicar’s Landing, passed away July 11, 2016. She was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Italy. In 1935 Maria came to the US, growing up in Staten Island, NY.

Maria received a Master of Arts from Hunter College where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She taught in NYC and the Rochester NY area schools. She married Deacon Anthony Marini on July 14, 1956. She greatly supported her husband throughout his diaconate ministry. Together, they moved several times before settling in Ponte Vedra Beach in 1997. Maria was an active parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector.

Maria loved to read, travel and spend time with her family.

Maria is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Deacon Anthony Marini; daughter, Agnes Barber (Philip); son, Claude Marini (Jane); grandchildren, Lianna Barlow (Randy), Stephen Barber, Gabrielle Barber, Anthony J. Marini, Dominic Marini, Christopher Marini, and Cecilia Marini; great grandchildren, Harmony and Alaina; and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil at 6:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00a.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
