Marcus Smith Jr

SMITH Marcus Davidson Smith Jr. David passed away Thursday Dec 31, 2015. He was a loving, devoted husband and father. Born on Dec 12/23/1935, he grew up in Venetia and Ortega. He graduated from The Bolles School and Florida Southern College in 1959. After college he served as a Lieutenant in the US Army as Aide-de-Camp to General Robert C. Tripp. After his discharge he moved to Birmingham AL and was introduced to Ann Rice Farmer. They fell in love and were married on August 11, 1962. In, 1969 they moved with their two daughters to Jacksonville. David worked in sales working for Bill Terry Buick. In 1973, his third daughter was born. David continued selling cars and real estate until he retired. David was a man of faith. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the early 1960's. David spent the majority of his adult life in service to his church. He spent hours discipling and mentoring men in all the tenants of the Christian faith. Serving the Lord, loving his wife and children were most important to him. David is survived by his wife Ann F. Smith, his daughters Judy Sparks, Anna S. Holmes, Clara C.B. Smith, their husbands, his sister Jenell S. Hottinga (Mrs.Jan) and brother-law Buddy Farmer (Pamela). He had 4 grandchildren Haley, Skyler, Buddy and the 4th arrives in the Spring of 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Marcus D.Smith, Sr. and many other relatives. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church, 4510 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082. The family will receive guest at a reception immediately following the service.
