Marcia Helen Booth passed away on September 16, 2024. Marcia was born on April 11, 1936 in Morristown, NJ to Helen Cooney Booth and Dr. William K. Booth. She earned a BA at Goucher College, a MEd from Seton Hall which she followed up with doctoral studies in Counseling Psychology at Fordham University. Marcia also earned a certificate from the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in East Orange, NJ. Marcia was a high school English teacher at The Wilson School in Mt. Lakes, NJ before becoming a counselor at Boonton High School. In 1982, she moved to the area and took up residence in Jacksonville Beach when she joined the faculty of Episcopal High School. Marcia served as the school’s Registrar for many years retiring in 2000. In retirement, Marcia stayed busy loving her dogs Teddy and Jeter, reading mystery novels, and gardening. She served as a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic for over 20 years, was a member of the Family Selection Committee for Beaches Habitat, and supported Goucher College as an Alumni Fund Raiser. Marcia was very active in her church, Our Lady Star of the Sea [OLSS] where she served as coordinator of the Eucharistic Ministers. On Mondays, you could find her counting the OLSS weekend collection. She is survived by her cousin Susan Cooney Strnad (Bruce) of Lake City, FL.
Marcia made friends everywhere she went, and more importantly, she kept them close to her heart throughout her life and tried her best to convince them all to cheer on her beloved Yankees.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 A1A N, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
In lieu of flowers, Marcia asked that donations be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea or Beaches Habitat.
