Mabel J. Thompson

Mabel J. Thompson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 93 in Campbell Place, Bellefontaine. Born on March 27, 1931, in Mingo, Ohio, Mabel lived a life filled with love and devotion.

Mabel was known for her kind, gentle spirit—a loving mother whose heart overflowed with pride for her family. She took immense joy in the lives and accomplishments of her loved ones, creating a nurturing environment in her home that provided comfort and support. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A longtime member of the Red Hat Society, Mabel enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of this special group of women. She had a passion for singing and was a dedicated member of the church choir, lifting spirits with her beautiful voice. Mabel was also an avid crocheter and quilter, spending countless hours crafting intricate pieces that brought warmth and comfort to her home and the homes of others. She found great joy in reading classical romance novels, often losing herself in the pages of a beloved story. In her later years, she developed a love for crossword puzzles, enjoying the challenge and the quiet moments they brought.

Mabel is predeceased by her devoted husband of 76 years, Robert B. Thompson.

She is survived by her adoring sons, Mike (Pat) Thompson, Doug (Linda) Thompson; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

The sorrow felt by her family in her passing is profound, but the memories of her unwavering love and commitment will hold them together. Mabel's life was a testament to kindness, and her legacy will continue through generations to come.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty with Pastor Jeremy Spence.

Mabel will be remembered not just for the years she lived, but for the love she shared and the lives she touched.
