Louise Casler

July 31, 1932 — October 31, 2017

Louise Butterly Casler, 85, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017, while surrounded by her family.

Louise was born in Scranton, PA, to James P. and Ann T. (Collins) Butterly on July 31, 1932.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G Casler and son-in-law, Thomas Lantry. She is survived by her children John Casler (Chung-Hae), Anne Lantry, Robert Devers (Melissa), and Jim Devers; stepchildren Jan Farmery (Bob) and Marc Casler (Kim Regis), as well as thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A lifelong learner, Louise graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marywood College in Scranton, PA, and received her Doctorate of Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  Dr. Casler was the Business Education Supervisor in Prince George’s County, Md. Early in her career, she taught elementary education, but developed a love for secondary vocational education and the opportunities it offered her students.

Louise will be remembered for her genuine love of people, gracious hospitality and a superb hand at bridge! She was a quiet but strong, capable woman who lived by faith with style and grace.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 224 5th Street North, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida or the Beaches Community Kitchen.
