LaRue Hunter

LaRue Gordy Hunter passed away on May 10, 2018 at the age of 93.

She was born on February 13, 1925 in Seaford, Delaware to Raymond and Mabel Gordy. After graduating from the University of Delaware, “Rue” married Robert L. Hunter on June 8, 1949, the start of a wonderful and happy union lasting 69 years. Together they had three children, Whitney, Kathryn, and James. Rue was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was an active member of her community, clubs and church and a friend to all. She was known for her warmth and kindness and love of life.

Rue is survived by her husband, Bob, her three children, Whitney (Meredith), Katie Sabina (Joe) and James (Honey), five grandchildren, Kirsten Rose (Matt), Colin (Margaret), Whitney, Brooke and Chase, and four great-grandchildren, Peter, Jack, Thomas Rose and Honor Hunter.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Windward Commons, Fleet Landing with the Reverend John Hugus presiding.
