Kevin Buckley, 63, passed away early on Wednesday morning the 4th of August. He was born August 2, 1958 in Memphis, TN. He grew up in Memphis, lived all over the U.S., Japan, and Korea, and found his forever home in Jacksonville.
Kevin served in the U.S. Marines, worked in and retired from a federal government position, and later undertook several entrepreneurial endeavors. These endeavors allowed him to meet many people all around the world, which he undertook with great enthusiasm.
Kevin was recently diagnosed with cancer and was taken from us faster than we expected. Our children, grandchildren, and our extended family are all saddened and grieve his loss. We are guided by our memory of Kevin, who lived to connect with people, loved through humor, and expressed his passions by interacting with nearly EVERYONE he met in life.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Valerie, and his daughter, Rachel (Derrick), son, Kevin James (Meredith), and grandchildren, Dillon, Colin, Ryan, and Ali.
A memorial and prayer service will take place at the Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street, South Jacksonville Beach, Florida from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. See www.quinn-shalz.com for details.
A Celebration of his life will be held at our home from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We hope that you join for supportive remembrances. As Kevin would have wanted, we encourage you to share stories of him with each other and send your blessings for his journey. Kevin’s loving brother, Patrick, will share stories and memories of Kevin. Written remembrances can be submitted to the funeral home at www.quinn-shalz.com. The family requests that memorial gifts be designated to The Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, 32224.
