Katharine Dunn
July 11, 1932 — June 26, 2017
Katharine “Kay” E. Dunn, 84, passed away on June 26, 2017 at home in Atlantic Beach in the company of her children. Kay was born on July 11, 1932 in Bloomfield, New Jersey as one of three children born to Jerome and Eleanor Vorhies.
Kay and her husband Jack raised their family together and she also worked outside the home in various occupations. She retired from the USPS with 20 years of service and has lived in Atlantic Beach for 23 years. After retirement, Kay’s greatest joy was spending time with family especially while attending her grandchildren’s activities. Her positive attitude on life was always apparent as she walked her dog and talked with neighbors.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerome Vorhies Jr., sister Rita Quinlan, and husband of 54 years, Jack Dunn. She is survived by her son Jim Dunn (Patti), daughter Eileen Phillips (Bob), daughter Kathy Arsenault, and eight grandchildren, Tim Dunn (Andrea), Courtney Dunn, Matt Phillips, Katie Phillips, Kristen Phillips, RJ Arsenault, Megan Arsenault, and Thomas Arsenault.
There will be a celebration of Kay’s life at 12:00 PM on July 8, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach.
