JUDITH ANN COUGHLIN

Cherished wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and advocate for families tackling childhood cancer, Judith Ann Coughlin (née Whitaker) passed away November 2, 2022 at the age of 77. Judy was everything to her family. She was the confidante, the advisor, the negotiator, the chief financial officer, the chef, the chauffeur, the fan, but most of all she was mom and grandma. Judy never wanted to be the center of attention, but with her warm and loving ways, along with her beautiful smile, it was difficult for her not to be.

Whenever the Coughlin family moved, and we moved a lot, Judy instantly became everyone’s friend. She was a force for love and well-being in the neighborhood. Our door was always open for anyone who wanted to stop by for a cup of coffee or a listening ear, and no one ever left without a hug or a kiss. When we moved away, our neighbors were always sad to see her go, but rarely even noticed she had a husband. Everyone loved Judy and everyone cried when she left. The enormity of her absence cannot be put into words, but the immense kindness she showed to others will always endure. Our hearts are broken, but we know she is finally free from suffering. After a long and courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), Judy is at peace and in the arms of our Lord.

Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom Coughlin; their four children and their spouses: Keli and Chris Joyce, Tim and Andrea Coughlin, Brian and Susie Coughlin, and Kate and Chris Snee;12 grandchildren: Emma, Dylan, Shea, Cooper, Caroline, Marin, Wesley, Brennon, Clara, Walker, Ally, and Hartley; and one sister, Sandy Estep. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Eleanor.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Jacksonville Beach, Florida with a reception following.

Judy will have a private burial in her hometown of Waterloo, NY at a later date.
