Joseph D. Abrass, of Atlantic Beach, FL, born on February 2, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 17th, after a short illness. He was the beloved son of Joseph P. Abrass and Helen (Mierzejewski) Abrass. Joe was predeceased by his parents and brother, Norm Abrass.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda Abbe Abrass. A devoted father, he leaves behind his children, Steve Abrass (Suzette), and Jill Easton (Mac). Additionally, he was a cherished grandfather to C.J. (Sydney) and Ben Easton, Abbe (Colin) Brooks, as well as Megan and Mallory Abrass. Joe recently welcomed his first great-grandchild, Oliver Joseph Easton, who bears the middle name of 'Joseph' in his honor.
Joe’s journey began at St. Francis DeSales High School in Toledo, Ohio, where he graduated in 1960. He continued his education at the University of Toledo, earning a degree in Business in 1962.
With a strong work ethic and passion for his profession, Joe embarked on a fulfilling career path. He started at William Abbe and Son during his school years, laying the groundwork for what would become a remarkable 38-year tenure in Medical Sales and Sales Management. Throughout his career, Joe made significant contributions to esteemed companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Richard-Allan, Stryker Medical, and Sammons-Preston. He served in various locations including Toledo, Detroit (Southfield), Tampa, Palm Harbor and Atlantic Beach before retiring in 2007.
In retirement, Joe found purpose in giving back to his community. He dedicated his time and energy to volunteering at Mission House, BEAM, and K9s for Warriors in Jacksonville, leaving a lasting impact on those he served. He was also an active member of the Exchange Club.
A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Atlantic Beach, FL, Joe found solace and strength in his faith throughout his life.
Joe Abrass will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his compassionate spirit in serving others. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and generosity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Atlantic Beach, FL, at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 25th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to K9s for Warriors in memory of Joe Abrass.
