John Delaney

John W. Delaney Sr., of Jacksonville, FL passed away July 25, 2020 at the age of 94.

John was born on March 14, 1926. He served in the US Navy; active duty and reserves from 1943-1952. He received the WWII Victory Metal and American Area Campaign Metal for his service.

As a young soldier, John met the love of his life, Goldie Marie and they married on July 18, 1945. They lived together inseparably for over 75 years. After completing his military service, John had a successful career as an air traffic controller from which he retired. John and his beloved wife, Goldie then spent many years traveling across country. Their love for the road and adventure ultimately lead them the mountains of North Carolina where they lived for more than 25 years. John and Goldie were faithful members of Crossnore Presbyterian Church and served their community through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. In 2006 John and Goldie relocated back to Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to family. John loved working in the yard, gardening and cheering on his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

During their beautiful life together, John and Goldie were blessed with 3 children; John Jr. (Linda), Marie, and Robert (Nancy); 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
