John Fredric Shuler, Jr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 17, 1972. He passed away June 30, 2016. His mother cried as he was the ugliest newborn, but he quickly changed into an adorable tow-headed baby boy, just as his grandmother had promised.
John was an avid athlete, excelling at baseball and Pop-Warner football at the Turtle Creek Sports Complex. He attended Stanton College Preparatory School and completed his senior year at, and graduated from, Robert E. Lee High School. After high school he entered the United States Army and served in Korea and in Seattle, Washington. Following his active duty, he remained in the Air National Guard until retirement.
Once more a civilian, he was an exceptional salesman for Lifetime Enclosures and was inducted into the Millionaire’s Club within his first year. He then became a successful entrepreneur and restauranteur, owning Beachside Seafood and The Hash House at the Beaches which he embraced as his home. His passion was cooking and he became a formally trained chef.
Unfortunately, he’s left us far too soon, so he is predeceased by none of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Kristen Lee Shuler, his sons, John Dylan Shuler and Jordan Jerome Gardiner, mother, Donna Danson, father John Shuler, Sr., older sister Julie (Shuler) Vito, younger sister Jodi Shuler, younger brothers Justin Shuler, and Jarret Shuler, and a huge loving family of aunts, uncles, and a plethora of cousins.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 4 to 7pm in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2016 in Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to B.E.A.M. – 850 6th Ave. S., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
