PERKNER John Jack Perkner, 82, passed away February 27, 2016. He was born September 2nd 1933 and grew up in the Wilmington, Delaware area. He then moved his young family to a small horse farm in Chadds Ford, PA, before retiring to Florida to be closer to his children and grandchildren for the last 12 years of his life. Jack served 4 years in the Marine Corps as a pilot and then 19 years serving in the Air National Guard while holding down his full time job as the purchasing executive for Delmarva Power and Light Company (we still remember the little buttons with Reddy Kilowatt on them). In his younger days he enjoyed flying helicopters, golf, his horses, his pet dogs and beer. In his later years it was mostly cats, his dog Tilly and beer. Jack's wife Dorothy Dot predeceased him (but he never changed his voicemail) and he is survived by his daughter Sharon (Bob) Jorgensen and son John (Karen) Perkner. He most enjoyed time with his 3 grandsons: Grady, Spencer and Emmitt Jorgensen and his 2 granddaughters: Katie and Allie Perkner. He will missed by his many friends near and far including George and the other bar boys who dominated many trivia nights at the Palencia clubhouse. A celebration of his life is being planned near his home in Palencia. Services under the direction and care of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home
