It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John "Dave" Parsons, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left this world peacefully on November 29, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on August 16, 1927, in Logan, West Virginia, Dave lived a life rich with purpose, love, and service to his country.
Dave proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting on April 14, 1946, and achieving the rank of Technician 4 before his discharge on September 20, 1947. His commitment to service and dedication to his country remained a cornerstone of his life.
Following his military service, Dave pursued an education that culminated in a Bachelor's Degree, leading him to a successful career as a civil engineer with the Army Corp of Engineers. His work contributed to the development and preservation of infrastructure, highlighting his passion for improving communities.
Dave was a man of deep faith and conviction. He cherished his family above all else and enjoyed every moment with his loved ones.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara McCoy; sons, Bob (Jan) Parsons, Brad (Kris) Parsons; daughter-in-law, Joyce Parsons; stepdaughters, Jeannie (Skip) Gilbert, Carol (Michael) Consaul, Joanie (Ross) King, Kathleen (Keith) Newcombe; grandchildren, Kelsey Clark, Wesley Parsons, Tom Parsons, Mary Elsa Wall, Colin Parsons and Connor Parsons; great grandchildren, Sunny Parsons, Conrad Parsons, Wyatt Wall, Nash Wall, Banks Wall and Alice Parsons.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Earl Parsons; his mother, Hazel Parsons; his first wife, Margaret Ann Parsons; his second wife, Jean Parsons and his son, Greg Parsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6th in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 9th at Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
Dave loved life, his family, his country, and God. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering spirit. May he rest in eternal peace.

After entering the cemetery, take the first right and proceed to lane #3. Park in either of the two lanes designated for lane #3. At the scheduled service time (11:30), a cemetery representative will lead you in a vehicle procession to the committal shelter for the service.
