John Reynaldo Ponce Fernandez

John Reynaldo Ponce Fernandez, 62, passed away on February 15, 2025. His last moments were peaceful at home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. 

 Born and raised in the Philippines, sought a better life for his wife and 2 kids by moving to Australia, and then to the United States. A Bachelor’s Degree from the University of San Carlos, Talaban landed him successful IT positions throughout his career and his work ethic and intelligence was loved by all his colleagues. His love for his wife was evident until the end making sure she would be taken care of after his passing. John was a true family man who gave his kids opportunities but in independent ways. He instilled in them the motto of raising their own kids better than themselves. 

 His generosity knew no limits not just towards family but also friends and their families. Many can attest to the kindness he showed and gave to all who came his way and did so without any expectation of a return. 

 John had many passions in life most notably tennis and pickleball while also enjoying good asian cuisine and asian soap operas. 

 He is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Peter and Kriston; son, and daughter in law, Michael and Wendy and 7 grandchildren, Arabella, Everly, Brayden, Cole, Adrielle, Ezrah, and Liliana. He is also survived by his siblings Agnes, Eugene, Deborah, Brad, Luisa and Paul, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. 

 A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 - 5PM to Celebrate the Life John lived and the legacy he left. The venue is Quinn Shalz Funeral Home located at 3600 Third St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. There will also be funeral service which will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2025 - 11AM at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
