John Darden Braddock of Jacksonville Beach died at his residence on Sept. 17, 2016. John was born on Nov. 17, 1948 in Jacksonville and resided in Jacksonville Beach for his lifetime.
John attended San Pablo Elementary, Fletcher Jr. High, and graduated from Fletcher Senior High in 1966. John graduated from Auburn University in Civil Engineering in 1971. He began his career with B.B. McCormick and Sons, General Contractors and while working for them built projects such as Amelia Island Plantation, Sears Warehouse at Imeson, Epcot at Disney World, and Offshore Power Systems for Tenneco. In 1989 John founded Braddock Construction which continued until May 2009. John was then employed by A.J. Johns, Inc. until Nov. of 2014.
John was active in his Church of Eleven22 and in retirement he continued his faith in giving back to the community by volunteering at Eleven22’s Thrift Store, Hope’s Closet. John loved fishing and hunting which took him to Montana, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina and Florida. His faith, passion, and labor of love was going on Mission Trips to Brazil building new churches for the residents, making new friends, all for the glory of God.
John was predeceased by his father Alcy J. Braddock in 1978; and son, Brent in 2003. He is survived by his wife Terri; mother, Virginia D. Bradock; son, Mark; and brothers Robert & Thomas.
A short Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Sept. 24, 2016 in Eleven22, at Beach Blvd. and San Pablo Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Memory of John to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jax. FL 32257.
