JoAnne Salzberg Adams, 66, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2022. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 18th, 1956 to Edythe and Bernard Salzberg, and moved to Florida in the mid ‘70s to attend Jacksonville University, where she graduated with a degree in Art. Jo fell in love with Jacksonville – particularly The Beaches – and she never left.
She also fell in love with Richard Adams of Jacksonville and they were married for 31 years. They relished traveling, fishing and laughing together; and their love was true.
JoAnne owned and ran First Street Gallery which supported and sold local art for many years - including her own pottery. Jo had a terrific sense of humor and a big laugh. She was friendly, kind, and generous but she suffered no fools. She was a terrific cook and baker, and an even better listener to the countless friends she made quickly and kept forever. She was passionate (yet realistic) about the Jaguars, and also enjoyed movies and theatre. Aside from Richie, her greatest loves were her pets - the countless dogs and cats she had throughout the years. They were her children.
She was predeceased by her parents, Richie, and her mother-in-law Barbara Jean Adams. She is survived by nephew Matt Salzberg, his wife Diana Henry, and their children Elena and Benton Salzberg; father-in-law James C. Adams and his wife, Nancy; sister-in-law Terri Adams, brother-in-law James Adams, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 26th at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, a donation in JoAnne’s name may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
