Sister Joan Mary Hush O.P. passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021, at St. Catherine LaBoure Manor in Jacksonville, Fl. Sister Joan was born in Stamford Ct. and was raised on Long Island with her five sisters. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College, found her vocation and joined the Dominican Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Albany, New York.
She spent 37 years in the monastery and while there was sent to Rome and received her doctorate in Theology from the University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome, Italy.
She returned to the States and asked to be released from the convent and became a trusted and learned spiritual counselor to many.
Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Hush, Barbara Hush and Michele Hush and is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Quinn and Catherine Farkas, her cousins, Sandra Catallo and Thomas Mead, stepbrother, Greg McLaughlin and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in New York.
