Jerry Robert Franklin passed away peacefully at home with his dedicated wife Ginger by his side on April 16, 2024. His legacy of love, dedication, and steadfastness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on September 2, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, to Ernest and Ethel Franklin Jerry would go on to lead a life filled with meaningful connections and cherished moments.
Jerry was known for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor, which never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those loved him. His love for selling windows was evident throughout his career, where he honed his skills and helped to build lasting relationships with clients.
Educated with a master's degree in Sociology, Jerry valued learning and understanding the world around him. He approached life with a selective and literal mindset, finding joy in companionship and simple pleasures like dancing, walking on the beach, and spending time with his beloved wife.
A man of unwavering commitment and love, Jerry was a devoted husband to Ginger; a loving father to his children, Renee Franklin and Neal Franklin of Omaha, Nebraska; stepchildren, Tashawna Rodwell of Parker, Colorado, Mark Bilka of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Brad Bilka of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Graceson Bilka of Mangum,Oklahoma, Ella Bilka of Mangum,Oklahoma, Teagan Bilka of Chesapeake, Virginia, Avi Bilka of Chesapeake, Virginia and Sophia Rodwell of Parker, Colorado, and a baby Bilka arriving in Autumn; greatgrandchildren, Zayne and Lane, of Scottsdale, Arizona. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Franklin.
A graveside service to honor and remember Jerry will be held on April 26, 2024, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join in procession from Quinn Shalz Family Funeral Home to Jacksonville National Cemetery. The procession will begin at 8:30 a.m. Graveside services at the cemetery will commence at 10:00 a.m.
