Jerry Doster

July 22, 1948 — March 18, 2018

Jerry Ann Hartwig Doster was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 22, 1948 and passed away on March 18, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida.  The daughter of a career Air Force officer, she lived and travelled in numerous locations across the country and the world.  She began high school at Clark Air Force base in the Philippines and made lifelong friends there that she stayed in touch with up until her passing.  She completed high school at South Mecklenburg High in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1966.  She went on to get her degree in Education from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1969.  Though living across the globe, she always identified Charlotte, North Carolina as “home.”

She spent many years in the classroom educating others.  She enjoyed beaches, be they lake or ocean front.  She was a lifelong sports fan, college basketball in particular, and always had a feline friend by her side.

Jerry moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2003 to watch her grandchildren grow up.  She is survived by her former husband, Denis M. Doster, their daughter Gretchen Christina Doster Turner and son-in-law J. Ashley Turner.  Other surviving family includes her sister Vicki Lynn Hartwig Williams, two nephews and two great nieces.  Most beloved survivors are her grandchildren, Jackson and Zoe Turner.

Service will be held in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, Saturday, March 31st at 1pm.  3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL  32250.
