Jennie Blascovich

Jennie Loretta Blascovich, 95, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. She was born Giovannina Cocozza on August 7, 1922 in Chicago, IL, moved to Woodstock, IL in 1968 and retired to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1986.

Jennie was married to Albert L. Blascovich on June 27, 1943. She took part in community theatre in Elmwood Park, IL. In Woodstock she volunteered tirelessly in support of St. Mary’s Parish and the local community. She continued that volunteerism at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and later at her home at Cypress Village in Jacksonville, FL. Jennie and her husband Albert were expert ballroom dancers. She danced until the age of 94. Jennie was an excellent cook and relished the opportunity to entertain her family and friends. She was passionate in her faith and love of family.

Jennie is survived by her sons, James (Brenda), Stephan (Patricia), Ralph (Kristen); and daughter, Mary Beth (Robert) Wharen; grandchildren, Jenny (Michael) Best, Beth (Shae) Johnson, Sarah (Lindsay) Brown, Andrew (Allison), Laura (Chris) Donson, Meridith, Amy (Joe) Mantione, Greg (Sandra), Stephanie Wharen, and Abby; great grandchildren, Aiden, Brooklyn, Bethany, Caitlin, Clara, Daxton, Oliver, Nathan, Charlie, Caelan and AmeliaMay. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert L. Blascovich (1919-2006).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Iacona as Celebrant.
