Janice Snyder

Janice Hucknall Snyder passed away in her home on Monday, February 17th, 2025, surrounded by her children. She was born in Elyria, Ohio and resided in both Long Island, NY and Atlantic Beach, FL. Her passions were writing, tennis, photography, travel, playing cards and family.

Jan graduated from Bayside High School, Long Island, NY and worked as a Supervisor for the IRS, and Office Manager for an OB/GYN and an Ophthalmology office. She was an active member of St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church and served many years on the Altar Guild.

A favorite passion was providing positive insights and advice through her extensive writing. She wrote “OnThe Sunny Side” for the Beaches Leader for two years and authored numerous poems about every-day experiences. She also published the book “Survival of the Caregiver,”which is based on her 10 years of caring for her husband who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease.

She also traveled extensively with her husband, cousin Caroline, and others. She enjoyed such destinations as Europe, Egypt, China, Tibet, and elsewhere. Her travels also allowed her to enjoy her passion for photography.

Jan’s strongest passion, however, was her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Aunt. Every family member had a special bond with Jan, each feeling loved as if they were “her favorite.”

Jan is survived by her children, Chriss (Bob), Nancy (Robert), Gary (Jen), and Susie (Randy), sister Nanette Hucknall, nieces Nancie Corcoran and Dal Hucknall, Linda Sloop (Larry), Charlie Snyder and Ginny Stephens (Bobby). She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Bob and Nathan Frosio, Brittany Bertrand (Louis) and Brooklynn Porter,(Rachel), Ryan Leonard, Allison Leonard (Christopher), Emily Leonard, Brittany Greenwood, one great-granddaughter, Stevie Bertrand and her devoted caregiver, Kathy Wilsie.

She was predeceased by her husband (Richard Snyder) of 39 years, who passed away from Parkinson’s in 1995, brother Dick and Jack Hucknall, grandson Aaron Frosio, and cousin Caroline Sheehan.

A Memorial Service will be held at Beaches Museum Chapel in Jacksonville Beach, FL on February 28th at 2:30pm.
