Jane Farrell Love, 92, passed away June 24, 2024, in her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born February 11, 1932 in Jersey City, NJ. Jane grew up in Ridgefield, NJ and retired to Atlantic Beach, FL in 2000 with her loving husband.
Jane graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1949 where she participated in cheerleading, basketball, Glee club and many other activities. She proudly received her liberal arts degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, New York City in 1951. Jane began her career working in the garment district as a merchandiser which led to opportunities with Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and later, Federated Department stores. In the summer of 1958, she met John (Jack) W. Love Jr., who was bartending ‘down the shore’ as they say in New Jersey. The two quickly fell in love and were married on Oct 4, 1958 in St. Mathews Catholic Church, Ridgefield, NJ. Jack’s career in floor coverings had them relocate to Long Island soon after their first son William (Bill) was born. Jack’s successful career kept the Love family on the move, transferring many times. In 1961 to Detroit, MI where their son Thomas (Tom) and daughter Nancy were born. Next the family moved to Cleveland, OH, then Chicago, IL, back to New Jersey before finally settling in Atlanta, GA in 1970.
Throughout the years Jane enjoyed playing tennis, reading and learning new artistic outlets like decorating, sewing, re-upholstering and eventually her beautiful work with glass mosaics. Since moving to Atlantic Beach, Jane participated in many artistic events and her mosaic work can be seen all around the beaches. She also dearly enjoyed her eighteen years working as a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic. Jane loved animals especially her precious ducks, dog Niki and grand dogs Lucy and Lily. Her beautiful smile, generous laugh and quirky personality will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jack; sons, Bill (Mary), Tom (Monica); daughter Nancy; grandchildren, Katherine (Pat), Jack (Kalle) and great-grandchildren Alex and Charlie. Despite tragically losing her mother Gladys as a young child, she remained close with her father Tom Farrell until his death in 1989.
Jane was devoted to her husband and entire family and took special joy being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found life-long love with her husband and often expressed her gratitude for the wonderful life she lived and for those she shared it with.
In Celebration of Life, a Catholic Mass will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Quinn Shalz Family Funeral Home with Reverend William Kelly as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers and to honor Jane’s love for animals, donations may be made to Fur Sisters - Furever Urs Rescue, Inc.
