James "Jim" Patrick Shaar

James Patrick “Jim” Shaar, beloved brother, uncle and friend passed away at the McGraw Center Hospice on October 17, 2022.  He was born on March 4, 1939 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL to Michael C. Shaar and Alice McGraw Shaar. 

Jim grew up in Jacksonville, FL attending St Paul’s school Riverside and was a 1957 graduate of Bishop Kenny high school where he made many faithful and lifelong friends.  Jim graduated from Orlando Junior College and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  During his long career in sales and management with the Texize division of Dow Chemical Co., he and his wife Theresa moved many times making long lasting friends in each place.  After his retirement, he moved back to Jacksonville from Greenville, SC and was able to spend more time playing golf, his favorite sport, surf fishing, and being with family and friends.  With his kind heart and joyful spirit, laughter came easily, and he truly never met a stranger.  He will be greatly missed but the fun memories will remain.

James is predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Theresa Pagonis Shaar; his parents, Michael C. Shaar and Alice McGraw Shaar; his brothers, Frederick J., Richard A., Robert M. and M. Vincent Shaar; his sisters, Mary Ruth Dickerson and Patricia Ann Shaar. He is survived by his sister, Alice Shaar Akel along with many caring and loving nieces and nephews

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach with Reverend Michael Williams, and Reverend William Kelly as celebrants. A committal service will follow at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
