James Mitchell McMurry

James (Jim) McMurry 84, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023.  He was born on September 26, 1938 in Jacksonville, FL where he lived until 1983.  He then moved to St Augustine FL for 18 years and returned to Jacksonville in 2000.

Jim proudly served our country in the US Army, Army reserves, and Air Force National Guard between 1958 and 1964.  In 1962, he received his CPA certification and worked for Carpco Research & Engineering Corporation and then Hornes Enterprises.  He then transitioned to public accounting with Arthur Young & Company.  In 1977, Jim established his own CPA firm (McMurry, Smith & Chattin) until he retired in 2000.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years; three children: Helen Burke (Dee), Carol Bishop, and Christopher McMurry; four stepchildren: Harold Day (Randy), Graylin Day (Garry), Clifton Day (Joel - deceased), Darryl Day and Donna Rice.  He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
