With heavy hearts but joyous memories, we celebrate the life of James E. Kennedy, who peacefully passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on September 25, 1926, in Camillus, NY, James was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country honorably during World War II, embodying the values of dedication and sacrifice.

James enjoyed a distinguished career in banking, serving as the Senior Vice President at Marine Midland Bank and President of Binghamton Savings Bank. His talents also extended to consulting for Syracuse Savings Bank, where he made lasting contributions to the industry.

Following his retirement, James and his devoted wife Therese Ann relocated to the sunny shores of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. There, he embraced the community, becoming a cherished member of the Ponte Vedra Beach Club, where he spent many joyful days playing golf. Known affectionately as "the guy with the red sweater" to the local waitstaff, his kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. James was a man of deep faith and was a devout Catholic.

He leaves behind a loving family: his son Christopher (Cara) Kennedy and daughter Kathleen Mott, grandchildren; Brian Cregg, Christopher Cregg, Shawn Kennedy, Jennifer Moy, Nicole Mott, and Kenneth Mott, as well as great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Matilda Kennedy, his beloved wife Therese Ann Killian Kennedy his daughter, Carol Ann Cregg, and his son, James E. Kennedy, Jr.

Funeral services to honor James will be held on February 15, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Quinn Shalz Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join in a Mass to celebrate his remarkable life and the love he shared with everyone around him. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Let us remember James not with sorrow, but with a celebration of his extraordinary life; a life filled with love, laughter, and the unwavering spirit of kindness. May he rest in eternal peace.
