James Jones

James Grady Jones, 80, passed away October 7, 2017. He was born June 28, 1937 in Barrow County, GA. He grew up in the Atlanta area and he and his family moved to the beaches area in 1972.
Jimmy served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years as a mechanic and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. In 1958 he started working in the air conditioning industry in Charlotte, NC. He then moved to the beaches area where he started Ocean State Heating & Air Conditioning Company in 1975. For over 40 years he dedicated his life to running a business where he treated everyone like family. Jimmy loved traveling with his wife and experiencing new places. He also was an avid gardener and self-taught guitarist.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Frieda; daughters, Kelley and Kathie (Les); sons Richard, Glenn (Joy), and Todd (Catie); grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas, Taylor, Joshua, Hailey, and Samantha; brothers Terrell, Wayne; sister Nita. He was predeceased by Dean, Donald, Billy, James and Jack (brothers), Bettey Jo (sister) and Josh (grandson).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 12th at Neptune Baptist Church (fellowship to follow). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Air Angels Foundation (myairangels.org).
