James Paul Harcourt “Jim”, 78, of Jacksonville, FL was called to Heaven on Saturday August 27, 2016. Jim was born in Detroit Michigan on June 7, 1938, the 4th of 7 children, to Agnes Mueiller and William “Rex” Harcourt. Jim proudly served in the US Air Force for 9 years from 1955 to 1964. He spent his career as a service manager in automotive dealerships in the metropolitan Detroit area and then for 24 years as an engineering technician with General Motors where he retired in 2003.
Jim is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 34 years, Donna (nee Weston), his sons Mike Lehman (Terri), Joe Lehman (Shari), John Lehman, Tom Lehman (Cheryl), 13 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, his brother Bill Harcourt, his sister Florence Cowell, and his brother John Harcourt (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Barbara Harcourt and Betty McCloskey, his brother Harry Harcourt, and his son Ron Lehman.
Jim was a kind and loving soul who could make you smile just by entering the room. He was a great story teller, and was always interested in what others had to say as well. He was an avid Nascar fan who enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, music, reading, and all things Snoopy. As he knew his time was getting close, Jim’s biggest fear was leaving behind his loved ones, especially his soul mate, Donna. He worried about others right to the end. We will miss his great laugh, his humor, his kindness, his gentle and caring ways. We thank God for giving us this wonderful man to love, and take comfort that because of Jesus we will see him again in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10 am at the Jacksonville National Cemetery and on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1 pm at St. Simon’s Church in Ludington, MI. Both services will be followed by a reception.
