James Andrew Grimes

James Andrew Grimes, known to everyone as Andy, moved up as he said, and gained his Heavenly healing on July 14, 2024. Andy was born in South Korea to his loving parents John and Yong Chu on April 18, 1977. Andy and his parents moved to the states when he was just 18 months old. They moved to several beautiful states growing up as John was in the United States Air Force. They lived in South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Florida, and he even went to music school at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.

Andy was a phenomenal musician. He could play acoustic, electric, and bass guitar with such finesse and he always made it look so effortless. He also knew how to play the trombone from his grade school years. To know Andy was to know how passionate he was about God, End times, comic books, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, and most things nerdy. He was truly called to be a worshipper and to help others enter the presence of the throne room. He wasn’t always so serious. If you knew anything about comic books, superheroes, or kung fu movies, he would talk your ear off. With Andy, you would get one of three things: amazing philosophical conversations, nerdy conversations and rabbit holes, or his dry and very funny sense of humor. You could always tell when he was deep in thought or if you were playing music with him, he would give you the ever lovingly stated “side eye”. He genuinely loved music; it was his happy place. When he would pick up his guitar and play for you, it would teleport you to Andy’s world. He was part of so many bands and worship teams over the years and loved every second of it.

If you asked Andy what he thought of his parents, Yong Chu and John, he would tell you I am so glad that they are my parents and that they raised me to know and love God. He was so proud of his sister for being a single mom for so long to our nephew and niece and when she found Shawn, he was so happy that she would be loved so well. Andy and I (Lisa) would have been married for 13 years this year. I loved him with my whole heart and he was my whole world. If you asked Andy anything about a timeline of our relationship, he would give it to you in Marvel movie timeline. He was my worship partner, my Disney buddy, my love and my best friend. We all wish that he would have gained his earthly healing and kept him here with us but I know that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he is standing on the grand stage in Heaven with the most beautiful guitar worshipping God with all that he has. Like Andy said he never gave up, he just moved up. So, until I see you again my love, I love you to Heaven and back again.
