James Gelsomino

James V. Gelsomino, 72, passed away March 22, 2018. He was born September 23, 1945 in Mount Vernon, New York. James was an active parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

Before his retirement, James was employed as a Physicist at both Baptist Medical Center- Downtown and Florida Radiation and Oncology Group (FROG) where he was on the forefront of cancer treatments for over 40 years.

James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Virginia; son, Jason Gelsomino (Tanya); daughter, Jodie Hall (Keith); grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Madison, Colin and Greyson; brother, Robert; and sister, Debbie. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Chapel of Quinn Shalz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Funeral Home with burial following at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests either plants to be used in a memorial garden in their backyard or donations to the American Cancer Society.
