Ira Odom, Jr.

Ira Gerald Odom Jr., 64, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2018.  He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 25, 1954.

Bucky, as he was known by his friends and family, owned and operated Odom’s Beaches Tree Service since its founding in 1992.  Previous to that, Bucky worked for his father, Ira Sr. at Odom’s Tree Service in Jacksonville.  Bucky was an avid fisherman and hunter, winning numerous billfish tournaments in his lifetime.

Bucky is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra Toscar Odom; son, Ira III “Trey”; sister, Becky Nelson (Jim); cousin, Teri Nelson (Tom); mother, Elizabeth Odom (Betty); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his father, Ira Gerald Odom Sr. “Jerry” in 2006.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, August 21st in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bucky’s favorite cause, The Billfish Foundation, who promotes the tag and release of billfish worldwide.
