Ines Russ

Our beloved Ines Russ passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Ines was born September 11th, 1952 in La Paz Bolivia, the youngest of 5 siblings. She met her husband Dan by chance when he was serving at the US Embassy as part of the US Marine protective detail. Their love endured civil unrest, belligerent taxi drivers, and even the US State Department before they were married in 1972 and started their family.

Ines was a dedicated mother and one of the kindest most thoughtful people. She raised 3 amazing   independent daughters through her husband’s 30-year military career that included 8 transfers and 4 deployments before finally having a chance to choose where they would settle down.

There was a small town they would pass through every time they went to visit her mother-in-law in Daytona, FL called St. Augustine. On one visit she insisted on seeing the historical town and immediately fell in love with it and within the year they had purchased a home and began their final move.

In 1999 Ines and the family settled in St. Augustine immediately becoming part of the community.  For anyone that had the honor of meeting this amazing woman they knew that she was a beacon of love and never met a person that she could not connect with or did not care for. She loved her family, friends, and her town.

If she was not home with her beloved husband, she was walking people around town. She loved sharing the history and stories of the town she decided to call home as a tour guide and supporting her church and their ministries helping others in need.  She continually dedicated herself to others, whether it was her husband, children, friends, or strangers. She was the most thoughtful, loving, and selfless individual that anyone would be blessed to know.

We are deeply saddened for the loss of our amazing angel though very grateful to have had her in our lives.

Ines is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Daniel Russ; daughters, Amelia, Samantha, and Katherine; grandsons, Julian and Ivan; sister, Francisca; and brother, Adrian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in honor of Ines at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24th, 2021 in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with Reverend Guy Francis Noonan as Celebrant.
