Henry S. Carden Jr., 91, passed away October 18, 2016. He was born July 28, 1925 in Stanley, KY; grew up in Louisville, KY and retired to Florida in November 2009. Henry was a proud member of the US Army Air Corps serving as a crewmember of a B-24 Liberator bomber whose squadron saw action in the India/China theater during WWII. Post war, Henry graduated from the University of Louisville and began work for the Union Carbide Corporation at its facilities in Oak Ridge, TN and Paducah, KY. In 1966 Henry began a second career working at Monsanto Corporation’s Mound Research Laboratory, Miamisburg, Ohio as a senior research physicist where he stayed until his retirement in 1988.
Henry is survived by his son, David (Linda); daughter, Donna (Kalia); grandchildren, Andrea (Frank), David (Amanda), Lex (Lisa), Lauren (Tommy), and Kathryn; and 4 great-grandchildren, Sofia, Charlie, Luca and Mirabai. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, June Louise.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
