Harry Bynum

September 7, 1940 — May 11, 2018

Harry M. Bynum, 77, our beloved dad, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2018, in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Knoxville, TN on Sept 7, 1940 to the late Gratus and Jane Bynum and proudly served in the U. S. Air Force. He was retired from his business, Concrete Restoration Services, and was previously employed by Southland Equity Life Insurance Co. and Whirlpool Appliances. He lived most of his young life in Birmingham, AL. In 1971, Harry moved his family to Orlando, and lived there until his move to Jacksonville in 2015. Harry was a true outdoorsman enjoying many sports: fishing, boating, sailing, skiing, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, hunting and the University of Alabama Football - Roll Tide Roll! In the final years of his life, he was able to return to horseback riding thanks to Hope Therapy in Middleburg, FL, a non-profit organization which provides riding therapy to patients with autism, PTSS and Alzheimer's. We are truly grateful for this experience and happy times for him.

Survivors include children: Wendy Lanius (Bill), Jeff Bynum (Joey McAlinden), Eric Bynum, and Ginger Carrigan (Matt); grandchildren: Briana Bynum, Madison and Trent Lanius; brother, Wayne Bynum; sister, Sharon Christian (Larry); his loving girlfriend, Loretta Covington; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in August at Dailey's Chapel and Cemetery, 222 Bynum Road, Oneonta, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Therapy, 1591 Big Branch Road, Middleburg, FL 32068.
