Harold Albin, Jr.

Captain Harold C. (Bud) Albin, Jr, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida died on April 11, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C. on October 18, 1931, the youngest of six children to Harold Albin and Christine Cameron Albin.

Ever industrious, Bud earned a Bachelor’s of Science in 1955 from University of New Hampshire then was commissioned as an Ensign in USN. He attended flight school in Pensacola, FL and was awarded his wings as a navy aviator. He served for six years active duty, 17 years in the Navy Reserve, retiring with full honors at the rank of Captain. In 1984, Bud earned a Masters of Business Administration from Wayne State University.

In his second career as a business owner, Bud started and grew a multi-state copier business, Albin Industries, together with his wife Nancy.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Layne Albin; sister, Frances Albin Hart; his children, Arthur Albin (Pamela S. Albin), Beth Albin Knabel (J.R. Knabel), and Christine Layne Albin; grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor, Greg, Tessa, Cameron, Connor; and many nieces and nephews.

Bud is remembered as loving his family and others with acts of service and compassion. With a hobby of finish carpentry, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for over a decade in Palm Beach County. He was passionate about creating educational and mentoring opportunities for his family and other young adults, chiefly through his endowed scholarship for entrepreneurial studies at University of New Hampshire. His fondness and skill with dogs was very endearing.

A celebration of life is planned at a later date in Virginia.
