Hal Barton, 90, passed away in Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL on January 18, 2018. He was born on April 30, 1927 in NYC. Hal and his wife, Helen moved to Vicar's Landing of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 2013 from Sawgrass Country Club.
Hal graduated from George Washington High School in NYC and served in the U.S. Navy. He then attended Champlain College and graduated from Syracuse University. Hal met Helen on a blind date and they were married in Plattsburg, NY. He began his career with General Motors in Rochester, NY. He then worked for Ford Motor Company in Michigan and ultimately joined Chrysler as Vice President of Fleet Operations during the time of Lee Iacocca. Hal said the high point of his career was being part of the team that saved the Chrysler Corporation.
Hal was a member of the Automotive Fleet Management Hall of Fame. He was on the Advisory Committee, School of Management for Syracuse University, and Mission House of Jacksonville Beach, Past Board Member of Sawgrass Country Club as well as the Sawgrass Association and President of Spinnaker's Reach Condo Association.
Hal is predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen. He is survived by his son, Bart Barton of Ponte Vedra; and grandson, Alex Barton.
A Memorial Mass was held in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
