Guillermo Engmann

Guillermo F. Engmann, 87, passed away on April 17, 2017 at his home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Guillermo was born on July 2, 1929 in Santiago, Chile. He grew up in Chile and attended Deutsche Schule (German School). He graduated from the Chilean Air Force Academy with a degree in Engineering.

Guillermo (Bill) attended the University of Florida for post graduate work in 1952. He moved to the United States permanently in 1957 with his wife Elba and son Rodolfo (Rolf). He worked in the aeronautical industry for over 45 years including Cinta Chilean Airlines, Air Tech and Dyn Air. He spent most of his adult life in South Florida and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in early 2016 to be near family, especially his two great grandsons. His leisure time included listening to his favorite music (Swing, Jazz, Frank Sinatra and most of all, Classical music), inventing and fixing things, travel and photography. Bill and Elba were most gracious hosts with their Chilean friends in Miami, providing great food, music and dancing.

Guillermo is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elba; Sons, Rodolfo (Jenny) and Alex (Luz and Luz’s son Anthony); daughter, Victoria (Vince); grandchildren: Eric, Katie (Ross) and Kevin (Alexa); great-grandchildren, Gavin and Logan; favorite nephew, Marcelo (Solidad).

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday April 21 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
