It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard Thomas VanderLinde, who passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on March 13, 2025.

Gerard Thomas VanderLinde was born on March 27, 1943 in New York City to Herman and Kathryn VanderLinde. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Gerry was known for his generosity, larger than life persona, and contagious sense of humor. He was so proud of everyone in his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan VanderLinde (Murray) and their children Kristen (Pete), Kerri Dowd, Matt (Lora), and Mike (Nicole) and sister Kathryn VanderLinde. Gerry and Susan enjoyed a beautiful life together and shared 59 years of marriage.

Gerry was a proud grandfather. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Julia, Kyle, and Andrew Sledzik; Ryan, Connor, and Jack Dowd; Timmy and Katie VanderLinde. He was also a grandfather figure to his nephews Dylan and Liam Markowitz; he was so proud of all his nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by parents Herman and Kathryn and brother Jimmy.

Gerry was raised in the Bronx where he met his wife, Susan. Gerry and Susan were married in 1966. They moved to West Nyack, NY where they raised their family and were very active in the community. In 1987 they relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Gerry and Susan truly enjoyed their new Southern life and the wonderful friends they met. Gerry loved to host a party and always made sure everyone had a great time!

Gerry had many hobbies including golf, shrimping, among, but most of all he loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was everyone’s #1 fan! Gerry was passionate about his career in the moving industry where he had tremendous success for over 45 years. He had a big impact on those he worked with throughout his career. Gerry took great pride in running the best company he could. Gerry was a great storyteller. He especially liked telling stories about growing up in the Bronx and other great times with family and friends. Above all, Gerry cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Family and Friends.

Gerry will be deeply missed, but his memory and the lessons he imparted will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
