George Allan

George Allan, 64, passed away June 24, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Kermit and Nicea Allan. He was raised in Kentucky.

George was a decorated Viet Nam War veteran. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years.  He retired as a Chief Petty Officer.  After his naval career he worked for MWR at Mayport Naval Station for 18 years. George had a great sense of humor and was a teller of tall tales. George was a warrior with a compassionate heart. Although he loved all animals, he was especially fond of kitties and black bears.

George is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linda; stepdaughter Melissa (Mont) Grunthal; and grandchildren Hannah and Monty. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Thai Boy and Sunshine.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 5, 2016. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or Jacksonville Humane Society.  The family would like to thank the staff at the McGraw Hospice Center for their compassionate care.

George will be forever missed.
