Frederick Andrew Slaveski passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. He was born December 22, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA where he spent his formative years attending North Catholic High School. Fred enjoyed playing basketball from a young age and continued playing in college where he was a Center for St. Joseph’s University. There he was nicknamed “2-Point Zeke” and his claim to fame was playing against Wilt Chamberlain in a Kansas vs St. Joe’s match-up in December 1957.
Fred spent 35 years working in the Defense Logistic Agency in the Federal Government. Fred was not one for cold weather so anytime he could transfer south he did so ending up in Neptune Beach, Florida in 1980 where he retired. Upon retirement, he started his 2nd career roaming golf courses making sure golfers teed off on time and kept up their speed of play.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol; daughter, Jennifer; sons, Jon (Pam), Jason (Kim); grandchildren, Ann (Jeff), Elizabeth, Alek, Nick, Chris, Marie (Geoff), Tyler, Katelyn, and Reagan; and great grandchildren, Rowan, Caroline, and Nora, his Sister Elaine Jamison, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Saturday February 8, 2025 at 1pm.
