After 86 years of a beautiful life, Frances Evelyn Hutchinson passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and loving husband on April 30, 2024. Born in Wilkes County, North Carolina on January 23, 1938 to parents David Elisha Bell and Minnie Elizabeth (Jordan) Bell, Fran was the youngest of fourteen children.
Earning an Associate Degree from Mitchell College in North Carolina, Fran started her career as the manager of a finance company in Fayetteville. After marrying the love of her life, Lloyd Richard Hutchinson in 1969, she worked over 25 years civil service both Army and Air Force in Georgia, Germany, Texas and South Carolina. During that time, she was secretary to the General, served administratively at hospitals, drug/alcohol addiction facilities, education centers and public relations departments. Her favorite role of all was wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to brag, describe accomplishments and tell each of their stories. She adored them and they adored her!
She is survived by her husband, retired Army Sergeant Major Lloyd Richard Hutchinson; her six biological children Christopher John Francis (JoeAnn), Denise Marcel Holliday (Paul), Frances Jacqueline Perkins (Billy), Charles Kevin Francis (Allison), Patrick Lloyd Hutchinson (Michelle) and Kristi Shawn Towey (Justin); her two children through marriage Susan Jean Corson and Scott Andrew Hutchinson; her grandchildren Alan, Andrew, Brady, Brandon, Brandy, Corey, Desmond, Jake, Jeremy, Matthew, Megan, Nathan, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Sarah and Tammy; and twenty three great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents David and Minnie Bell; her siblings Walter, Arthur, Mary, Beatrice, Blanche, Vera, Thelma, Turner, Virginia, David, Paul, Hubert, and Dorothy; her son in law Billy Perkins; and granddaughter Rachel Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in honor of her memory to the charity Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the City Rescue Mission of Jacksonville, Florida. Fran cared deeply about the care of our first responders, military and homeless.
