Floyd J. Baker

Emblem

Floyd J. Baker was born on March 25, 1944, in Plattsburgh, New York to the late Floyd J. Baker, Sr. and the late Ethel Baker. Floyd graduated from Beekmantown HS and attended SUNY Plattsburgh, with a focus on English.

Floyd enlisted in the US Air Force in 1963 and served in Da Nang, Vietnam, and Japan. After serving honorably in Vietnam, he met Alice (Biers) Baker on a blind date in Albany, NY and they were married in June 1968. Floyd is the proud father to one son, Paul Baker. Floyd enlisted in the US Army in March 1976 and served three tours in Germany where he loved traveling, eating German food, and drinking German beer with his close-knit family. He retired honorably from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant. After retirement, Floyd wanted to enjoy the sunshine, so he and Alice moved to Jacksonville Beach, FL in 1992.

He enjoyed swimming in his pool, reading mystery novels, and playing with his dogs. He adored his family, especially his granddaughters and great-grandchildren and was able to visit them all over the world.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Alice; devoted son, Paul, and his wife, Sherie; granddaughters Katie and Sarah; grandson-in-law, Justin; and great-grandchildren, Tristan and Kira.
