Florence Joyce Cook

Florence Joyce Cook (JOY). Nee: Bousfield, passed away February 04, 2025. She was born Aug 5, 1941, in Sheridon, Manitoba, Canada. She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Joy moved with her husband Len to the USA in 1966 and to Jacksonville, FL in 2001. Joy and Len became US Citizens in 1985.

Joy got her Nursing degree from the Winnipeg General Hospital and later her Masters in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. (While being an involved mother for four children). She worked for 10 years at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville in the GI Recovery area and gained many friendships and associates during those years. She was an avid reader and Bridge Player. (loved the game). She gave many volunteer hours to her Church, Beam, The Salvation Army, Misson House and others. Joy loved her community and it loved her.

She is survived by Len her devoted and loving husband of 64 years. Sister, Cindy Bruce of Vancouver BC, Sons, Scott (Nell), Heath (Jennifer) and daughter Tamara. Grand Children Nathan, Meagan and William, Adam and Paige, Allison, Amanda and Elizabeth and five Great Grand Children.

A Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held March 6, 2025, at 11am in Christ Episcopal Church on Solana Road in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, The Salvation Army or Mission House in Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Following the service ashes will be interred in the Christ Church Memorial Gardens next to her deceased Son, Douglas Leonard Cook. 

A reception will follow the service.
