Faye Allen

February 7, 1942 — June 11, 2017

Faye Fulmer Seymour Allen, age 75, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at McGraw Center/Community Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.  Faye was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 7, 1942, to the late Francis Hobson Fulmer and Georgia Mae Fulmer.  She is survived by her three children, John D. Seymour, III of Williston, FL,  Angela Dubose of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Cheryl Strickland (Craig) of Fairhope, AL. She was a loving grandmother to Shayne Seymour, Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Dubose, Jacksonville, FL, Robert Strickland, Fairhope, AL, and Alex Strickland, Fairhope, AL and her three great-grandchildren, Emma Seymour, Logan Taylor and Elli Seymour and her loving Boston Terrier that never left her side, Baxter.

Faye was raised in Jacksonville and attended Kirby Smith Junior High and Andrew Jackson High School and was a majorette with the marching band throughout high school. Faye moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1980 and considered this her home. She loved the beach and everything about it.  Faye loved to travel, whether it be a cruise to the Caribbean, a flight to Bermuda or following the Florida Gator football team all around the southeast in her RV. She loved to be on the go.

Faye was a former UF Florida Scholarship Partner/ Booster for 15 years and NEVER missed a game, a past member of the Jacksonville Gator Booster Club and an Auxiliary Member of the American Legion Post #129 in Jacksonville Beach. Faye had many friends from high school and enjoyed their monthly luncheons, she loved the ocean, the Florida Gators, dancing, shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank all of her family and friends for their prayers and support during mom’s illness. We would also like to thank her doctor, Dr. Arnold Fong of Ponte Vedra Beach, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care you gave mom over the years and especially these last few months, and to Dr. Scot Ackerman and his caring staff at Ackerman Cancer Center, you guys made this journey bearable, the entire staff at McGraw Center/Community Hospice and a special thank you to Colletia Hodges for your friendship and loving care of our mother, you were a godsend.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11AM, Friday, June 23, 2017, at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 3rd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate in memoriam to Community Hospice or The American Cancer Society in Faye Allen’s name.
