Evelyn Marie Ebitz

Evelyn Marie (Zess) Ebitz, 97, of Jacksonville, FL, died on October 16th, 2023. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 71 years, Frank, and her sister, Dorothy Ritz.

Born in Washington, PA in 1926, Evelyn graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School. While attending high school, she worked at a local bakery, and after graduation, a law firm. After marriage and raising her children, she worked for Drug Fair in Padonia, Md.

Before moving to Jacksonville, she lived in Charlotte, NC and was actively involved in the lady’s exercise group at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, where she met many of her dear friends. She also enjoyed activities associated with the Red Hatter ladies’ group.

Her passion was her family. Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed participating in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially when they were babies and as they grew. She loved to play card games with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Marie Grimes (Larry) of Jacksonville, FL; sons Frank Ebitz Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Ken Ebitz (Susan) of Hartwell, GA.; grandchildren: Dan Grimes (Sheila) of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Ebitz of Lawrenceville, GA, Erica Ebitz of Suwanee, GA; great grandchildren Wylder and Johndalyn Grimes of Jacksonville, FL; sisters Mary Frances Dennis of Seminole, FL, Barbara Dearolph (Jerry) of Washington, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. We love you Mother, Grandma, Gigi and our dear friend! Rest in Peace.

Her Memorial Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, PA on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Canonsburg, PA.
