Eva (Eve) McClintock, 88, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, with family by her side. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by love, as her husband, her children and their spouses, and all of her grandchildren had the opportunity to express their love and gratitude. She also cherished seeing pictures of her great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy.
Eve was born on October 18, 1936, in Mullins, South Carolina, the eldest of two sisters. The family moved to Richmond, Virginia during her childhood where she attended St. Catherine’s School. She moved from Richmond to Williamsburg to attend William and Mary College, where she met Robert (Bob) McClintock on a blind date—it was love at first sight. They married on May 31, 1958, beginning a beautiful and enduring partnership.
Throughout her life, Eve held various jobs, but what she truly cherished was her time in retirement, dedicating herself to volunteering. She was a passionate docent at the Jacksonville Zoo, where she was named Docent of the Year in both 2002 and 2007. She also donated her time to the Cummer Museum of Art and the Oceanwalk community homeowner’s association in Atlantic Beach, Florida. With her passion for nature, she also was recognized from the University of Florida for completing the Florida Master Naturalist Program.
Even more than her volunteering, Eve treasured her role as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering love, support, and, of course, making her famous sandwiches. Her unwavering devotion to family will be forever cherished.
Eve is survived by her husband Robert McClintock, Sr., children Robert McClintock, Jr. (Carol), Elizabeth Cartlidge, and Katharine Testorf (Kai), along with ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, with two more on the way. She was predeceased by her parents Philip and Hazel Green and her sister, Betsy Green.
There will be no public service, but rather a celebration of her life with her immediate family. Donations can be made in her memory to the Jacksonville Zoo or a zoo/nature center of your choice.
