Emma Kircher

KIRCHER Emma Lou Erwin Spetman Kircher, 92, passed away peacefully, December 20, 2015. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Emerson Kircher, to whom she was married 70 years. Emma Lou was born June 14, 1923 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Mabel and Erwin Spetman. Emma Lou attended Northwestern University where she joined Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. It was at Northwestern that she met Bob, after he saw her walking down the street and remarked to his friend, That's the girl I'm going to marry. Emma Lou and Bob had 3 children, Diane, Pamela, and Robert, Jr.. They had 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Emma Lou's strength as a devoted homemaker was obvious as she provided a loving home as she and Bob moved 11 times during their marriage. Emma Lou was an excellent bridge player, becoming a life master in her early 40's. She made many friends in the bridge world, playing duplicate and going to tournaments. Many thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Vicar's Landing who took such loving care of Emma Lou and Bob as their health declined. Following Emma Lou's wishes there will be no memorial service.
