Shuda, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and lots of love on March 16, 2018. She was born on May 6, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. She left school early to work as a telephone operator while she helped support her family as they recovered from the Great Depression. She fell in love with the man next door, and eventually moved to Mayport, Florida when he was stationed there. Her husband of 47 years, Thomas Shuda, preceded her in death in November 2004. Over the years, she worked at Woolco, Woolworth, and American Greetings to provide for her family. She fiercely followed her faith, immensely loved her family, and was a caring friend. She was a cancer survivor and fought for every last moment she had with her family. She found joy in crocheting, playing bingo, and loving life.
Her parents, Mary Kridlo and Stephen Thack, along with her sister, Bernadine Auman, have preceded her in death as well. She is survived by two brothers, George Thack of Virginia and Steve Thack of New Jersey. She is also survived by two daughters, Barbara (Timothy) Hendricks and Mary Shuda. She has one granddaughter, Amanda Watsky, and was the most amazing Gigi to Lillian and Joshua. Rooted in her faith, she was a strong woman who loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
