Edwin Earl Borders, Jr.

Edwin E. Borders, Jr., (“Corky”) died June 9, 2024.  He was born on December 4, 1935, in Russellville, Kentucky, and moved to the Beaches at age four.

 Corky was a proud graduate of the Fletcher High School Class of 1954, where he co-captained the State Champion basketball team that year.   He graduated from Rollins College and earned his MBA at UNF.  He worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for many years. He was very active as a volunteer with numerous local charities, including Beaches Habitat, Kiwanis, Beaches Fine Arts Series, and Meals on Wheels.

 Corky is survived by his wife Nancy and their children Kathy Borders Hunt, Scott Borders, Vince Sluzele, and Pete Sluzele (Anita).  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His brother George Borders (Sybil) survives him as well, along with many nieces and nephews.

 A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church.  The church is located at 465 11^th Avenue North in Jacksonville Beach.  In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the St. Paul's By-The-Sea Pipe Organ Fund.   

 Interment of ashes will take place in the Memorial Garden at the church, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
