Dr. Jack Briggs, 81, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Saturday, 10 June 2017. Dr. Briggs was predeceased by his wife Phyllis in 2015, daughter Roberta Godwin in 2004 and sister Marilou Wright in 1997. He is survived by sons; Robert Briggs, Norman Carl Briggs and wife Claudia of Sayer, PA, Ralph E. Briggs of Mansfield, PA, Joseph L. Briggs and wife Terese of Brunswick, GA, and daughter, Betty J. Tada of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also survived by brother, Frederick Briggs and wife Peggy of The Villages, FL, and cousin, William Darush and wife Cheri of Neptune Beach, FL, and nephews and nieces.
Dr. Briggs, was born in Davenport, IA, raised in Roulette, PA, graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and Philadelphia College of Osteopathy Philadelphia, PA. He was Board certified in Family Practice and Emergency Room Medicine in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Hawaii and North Carolina where he practiced prior to retiring and moving to The Villages, FL. He served fourteen years in the United States Navy attaining the rank of Captain before returning to private practice.
A private interment ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery, Fort Indiantown Gap, PA, at a later date.
